How do I join First Congregational Church of South Windsor?
You Contact the Church, or attend a service and indicate your interest in membership to the Usher and someone will contact you, or show can come in during Pastoral office hours.

What happens if I decide to become a member?
If you decide to become a member, you will be welcomed into the congregation at a Sunday morning worship service.

What do I have to believe?
We see ourselves as a progressive Christian church which respects the individual\’s spiritual journey and the integrity of that journey. We take the Bible seriously, not literally. We celebrate two sacraments, baptism and communion. Worship is central to the life of the church, and members are encouraged to attend regularly.

What are my responsibilities as a member?
We have found that in order to support your spiritual journey, it will be more meaningful if you attend church regularly and support the church with your time, talent and treasure. Church members vote on issues such as the budget, ministerial staff and church policy.

Do I have to give money?
Members of the congregation support the ministry and mission of the church to the degree that they are able.

Do I have to join to be part of the First Congregational Church of South Windsor community?
While one doesn’t need to join to participate in the life of the church, one’s experience will be deeper and richer having made the commitment.

Can children join the First Congregational Church of South Windsor?
Technically, children are not members of the church until they take confirmation classes at which time they become voting members of the congregation. However, children are welcomed, respected and loved and are encouraged to join in the ministry of the church.

How do I meet people in the church?
The First Congregational Church of South Windsor has a wide range of activities which are announced in the weekly Sunday morning bulletin and the monthly church newsletter, the Main Street Musings. You may receive the Main Street Musings through email, mail, or download from this website. Groups are open and eager to have new participants.
